Well for several hours now I've been trying to work on thinking up some kind of amazing domi pvp fit on EFT. I'm becomming a little disheartened though. I've used Dominixes for ages, for all kinds of pve, and in some cases a little pvp. I know the ship is really just a flying block of armor with a drone bay but it has that tantalizing damage bonus.
I'd add in some kind of clever anecdote about Dominixes but I don't really have any. They're pretty straightforwards. A simple beast among starships.
So it's been driving me crazy how to put guns on it and get to show really what an awesome boat it is. Only problem is that it doesn't have enough pgu to really fit any big guns along with it's tank, and it doesn't have enough cpu to handle tackling equipment, tanking equipment, and the mods you'd need to raise the pgu even a little.
I have come up with a few workable fits but the dps just isn't enough for me to justify the expense. In those cases, 50 mil more would buy me a megathron which would give me way better results. The only guns that will actually fit properly on it are dual 250 railgun II's, and Electron blaster cannon II's. I'll have to experiment with T1 now...
It used to be the upside-down running shoe of doom. Back when you could swarm people with a fully flight of 16 drones. Then later it was a shield tanking nossing god. Now, its just confusing me. I've always liked the domi as a good counterpart to the Typhoon, sort of a jack of all trades type ship, though its rolls seem a little more limited now. The slot layout is still great though
Definently one of the ship's main strengths is the versatility of it's drones, and the size of its drone bay. How do I capitalize on that though? If you go with a straight drone oriented fit, you wind up with loads of leftover high slots and not a lot of DPS.
So then do I ignore the guns and focus on drones and tanking? Do I ignore tackling and fit more cap oriented mods? Do I drop the MWD and rely on rails and drones? Either way something needs to be cut from the program to make any one of the ships other aspects attractive enough to justify the isk.
All in all it's gonna make me bonkers till I figure it out.

I know an amazing hyperion setup actually. I dunno if they've changed anything about ship stats but this one has always worked for me.
For a tanking PVP kit: 4x Ion Blaster Cannon II 4x Electron Blaster Cannon II 1xCap recharger II 1xWarp Disruptor II 1xPhased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron 1xHeavy Capacitor boosterII 1x100mn Microwarp Drive II 1xMagentic Field Stabilizer II 1xArmor Explosive Hardener II 1xArmor Thermic Hardener II 1xDamage Control II 2x Large Armor Repairer II 2xAuxiliary Nano Pumps 1xCapacitor Control Circuit 3xOgreII 2xHammerhead II that's 66,221 effective hp, 648 effective rep, 940 dps, 1m 15s of cap use, and a top speed of 2578 m/s. If you manage your power consumption you can make this thing tank a whole fleet. I went toe to toe with another Hyp using a similar setup and we fought down to the last hull point, it was amazing. Then for a somewhat more offensive setup: 8X Ion Blaster Cannon II 1xQuad LiF Fueled Booster Rockets 1x Heavy Capacitor Booster II 1xPhased Weapon blah blah blah 1xWarp Disruptor II 1x Stasis Webifier II 1xCorpii C-type Adaptive nano (nearly as good as an EANM with a fraction of the CPU cost) 1xMagnetic Field Stabilizer II 1x1600mm rolled tungsten plate 1xLarge Armor Repairer II 1xDamage Control II 1xEnergized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 2xAuxiliary Nano Pump 1xCapactitor control Circuit 3x OgreII 2x Hammerhead II 84,687 effective hp, 366 effective rep, 953 dps,1085 m/s top speed 2m 21s capacitor use... Advantage to this kit is that it has more HP, somewhat better DPS, better power consumption, and better volley damage. However it has half the effective rep. |

Ahh, the Domi, so good drone ship and tanker but loosy in dps. I have been thinking more about how to turn my Hyperion BS into good pvp boat but as you I keep coming back to the Megathron for best pvp fit. Strange how hard it is to find good pvp fit for both the Hyperion and the Domi. Still my Hyperion is bad ass tanker with all that repper bonus and two Large armor repairer II onboard. Will have to work something out that uses that bonuses.
