Q: Can I register my real life identity as an avatar and upload real life photos of me and my real life friends?
A: No. Avatars United is a community for game avatars only. You cannot upload real life photos nor include information on your avatars description that could reveal your real life identity.
You are welcome however to upload photos of your real life friends' game avatars.
Q: I have several avatars on several games. Can I register them all?
A: Yes. Currently Avatars United has no limit on avatars to any given account.
Q: Can I register avatars from games I am not currently playing?
A: Yes, as a matter of fact we hope you will. Do register avatars from games you previously have played and you will allow old friends you previously played with to find you.
Q: Are you verifying that all the posted avatar information is accurate?
A: No. Avatars United is mainly a community for existing groups of friends and as such we believe fake identities will isolate themselves.
Q: What is Family?
A: All avatars that belong to the same account automatically belong to the same family. Family ties can however be hidden from the “account/avatars” menu option.
Q: What is the Appendix?
A: Appendix is your own personal wiki. It allows you to include references to your own definitions at all places you write an entry.
Q: How does the Appendix work?
A: If you wish to refer to a keyword in the appendix you need to add brackets before the first letter of the keyword and after the last letter of the keyword; E g [keyword].
Q: What is active avatar?
A: Active avatar is a concept and feature we have introduced in order to simplify usage of the website while maintaining multiple avatar identities.
Whenever you have more than one registered avatar you will have an option, at the top right, to switch active avatar by selecting the dropdown indicating the avatar name.
Each avatar has his/her own friends, blog, world etc. All actions taken are done from the active avatars perspective.
Q: How does "hide" family member work?
A: When “hide” is toggled on an avatar he/she is shown as an avatar without any family members.
Q: How does "hide friendship" work?
A: When “hide friendship” is toggled the friendship link between the two avatars is hidden from external vistors.
Q: How do I tell people who I am in real life?
A: You don’t, this community is for game avatars only.
Q: Who is running www.avatarsunited.com?
A: Avatars United is a project initiated and developed by a group of real life childhood friends and lifelong gamers. Apart from MMOGs our experience includes C64, Amiga, Atari and MUDs.
