Yesterday I decided to try out the best dps spec for mages (fire with icy veins) mostly because my gear now permits it, earlier I was using the Shadow’s Embrace set and thus I could continue with my frost spec since I lacked better overall spell dmg epics. After doing my respect me and some friends tried out Botanica HC and I must say it was quite a lot of fun. But I think I sort of used my spells a bit wrong since I started to stack the improved scorch debuff on the trash mobs only to find out that when the fifth stack was up, the mob in question was dead :P I it easy to see that this build is superior to my old Frost PvP spec (DUH) and that it is quite useful against raid bosses. Another positive aspect is that I now can start using Timbal’s Focusing Crystal that I’ve had in my inventory for ages now since the Fireball spell offers a DOT effect. Tonight I hope to continue the MH raid our guild recently started and I sure hope to climb up the dmg/dps ladder.

All that said I still hold frost very dear. As a frost mage I still feel there are more skills to use overall (I might be biased I know) and of course the survivability is vastly superior to a fire spec. I am going to try out the arena with my new spec but I guess I won’t stay alive very long.
