Shopping Spree Pt. II

I sat and waited for the first freighter pilot to activate the gate and jump thru to Perimiter, and followed as close behind as I could, as did the rest of the pilots on the gate in Jita. I jumped thru and waited for my ships sensors to catch up, to my relief there were no flashing red lights on my overview, and also no naughty people with police records, it must be my lucky day. I quickly checked that Autopilot was set for home and aligned to the next gate knowing the riskiest part of the journey was over, only 15 more gates to navigate.

Each jump took me a little closer to home and safety, after what seemed like an eternity of jumping and warping I made it back to my home system with cargo and ship intact. I docked up and unloaded my cargo into my hangar, and dumped the freighter back in the corporation hangar. Time to change the underwear....

Back to the easy, and safe life of manufacturing and invention. These Golems are going to take a fair bit of work to get them ready for the market, and are going to take a few weeks to build. There simply isn't enough time to run all the build jobs I need to at once, so I am going to have to stagger my work. I started a few component build job, but these are going to take a few days to run. I have to wait for the rest of my specialist ammo build jobs to clear from the factory until I can really start work on these Golem parts.

Invention is the easy bit, all a girl has to do it feed some documents and chips into the ACME™ Inventorium and wait. The hard part is sourcing cheap materials without getting suicide ganked in Jita. Well being a lazy cow I could not be arsed with running all over the place so I jumped in the rusty ol’ Obelisk and set Autopilot to lag central, aka Jita.
The worst part about Freighter flight is the damn speed of the things, if you thought a battleship was like a brick in toffee the neck-breaking speeds of an Obelisk bring a whole new dimension to slow. On the plus side I discovered the joys of drying paint en-route.

To cut a long story short (by about an hour) I made it all the way to Jita, and only got scanned twice.

After carefully studying the market (looking for the cheapest sell orders in Station) I spent out just under 2 billion ISK on materials to build 4 Golems and a few other bits and pieces.

I had called in a few favours to get an escort home from Jita, or even just a scout to check the route for gate camps around Jita, butwhen it came to the crunch everyone was too busy defending their Factions space. When will they learn that you cant rely on the powers that be and its every girl for herself!

Now everyone knows what Jita can be like for suicide gankers, especially outside 4,4 station, so being as cunning as a fox called Roger, I have an insta-warp bookmark in the middle of nowhere in line with the undocking lane. This got me clear of the station and warping safely to Perimiter gate for one of the scariest jumps in EVE. There is nothing quite like jumping into unknown territory with 2 billion ISK of cargo in almost a billion ISK ship (that’s on loan). Luckily for me when I arrived at the Perimiter gate out of Jita there was a queue of 3 Obelisks and 2 Charrons, so any suicide gankers on the other side would have a choice of 6 targets. Kinda reminds me of that legendary ancient game where people played a game of chance with a loaded firearm.

I will let you know who had the loaded barrel later……

Woke up this morning half asleep, all my blankets in a heap, invention jobs scattered all around me……. lah-de-dah de-dum de-dum dum-de-dum de-dum-de-dum…

I really do need to start building some stuff, there are just too many tech 2 blueprint copies sitting in my hangar, I wont be able to see my tritanium mountain soon!

Anyway before I get down to building, I have a few outstanding invention jobs to turn in, 3 expensive Raven attempts. These babies had been sitting in the labs for over a day owing to the complexity of the job. The results from these 3 jobs alone will affect my near future in New Eden, will I be out running missions again while I wait for more copies to come out of the labs or will I be building full time for the next month or so. Only one way to find out, time to visit the P.O.S and check the job queue.

I arrived at the labs with 3 jobs showing completion, they had consumed all my datacores and the expensive decryptors leaving a rather barren looking lab hangar. I opened up the labs UI and hit complete to eject my 3 jobs, first out a successful Golem copy with 2 runs, next a repeat of the first. Finally, the third attempt failed miserably, I knew my luck was out for this one, 100% success would have been unheard of.

Well that is more work added to my build queue, along with enough ammo to keep an Alliance in pew-pew for a long campaign, several Electronic Attack Frigates and a couple of Heavy Interdictors I now have 4 Golems to build, time to dust down the freighter and go on a jolly to Jita. Best check the old insurance policy, what with all these young hooligans and their suicide missions to bag a ship whatever the cost. I’ll never understand the youth of today, it wasn’t like this in my day I tell you, when I was a youth we were happy with a cruiser and some mining lasers! As usual I will have to sort out some emergency backup just in case things go pear shaped, nothing quite like having a small gang with a huge alpha strike waiting in Perimeter for the call to arms. I don’t like flying a freighter at the best of times, even less when she is loaded with almost 2 billion ISK worth of materials.

Still waiting on the 3 Golem attempts I put into the labs yesterday, but I had some manufacturing jobs finish this morning. 20k units of Large Tremor artillery ammo, fresh out of the oven bound for Oursulaert. I decided to put a few more ammo invention jobs in, as they dont take long, I can get the results back after my little trip to the market.

The trip to Oursulaert was timed well, as I arrived some kind person placed a whole pile of Fernite Carbide on the market and a loverly low price, I am sure he was as pleased with the quick sale, as I was with the price. So I loaded up my Transport and headed home to check on my invention jobs, when I arrived one of my comrades was having a bad day at the labs, another failure trying to invent these new fangled Jump Freighters. He seemed to take no consolation in the fact that I had just had another 3 successes with the long range artillery ammo. Tomorrow the boot could be on the other foot, as my Golem attempts will be done, I'm sure he will be hanging around waiting for me to fail......

I had a batch of invention jobs finish today and have decided to keep a journal of my successes and failures in this blog. If its anything like 99% of the rest of the blogs on the net, it will wither and die off within a week or two as I get bored.

I had 10 Scorch L attempts in the labs all complete last night, 7/10 success rate, very happy with that. I usually get 50% success, so I will probably be due a run of bad luck. No decryptors were used in these invention runs, so I have 70 runs of ME -4 Scorch L to build netting me 280 crystals market bound.

I ran another 5 invention jobs aiming for some L Tremor BPC, this time only 1/5 success, thats pay back for you. The only trouble with this Tech II Ammo lark is the build times on the end product, almost two weeks to build 10 runs, and with only 10 job slots is a slow process.

After doing a stock take of my many station warehouses I seemed to have a nice pile of Mechanical Engineering datacores, and what better way to get thru those than to use up some of those max run Raven blueprint copies gathering dust in the corp hangar. This time I did use decryptors, aiming for an extra run and better ME. These should be ready in a day and a half, hopefully giving me a Golem or two to build.
